This Winchester manufactured first variation hammer assembly is for the model 1897 slide action shotgun and is in very good condition exhibiting a grayish brown patina with light wear. This hammer assembly consists of the hammer, stirrup and stirrup pin. First variation hammer assemblies have the square checkered panel on the spur with the widow's peak.  (file photo)
